PORTLAND, Maine — Maine State Police have identified the man found dead on Long Island on Wednesday morning as 59-year-old Steven Michael Hanson, Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said .
Hanson, a lobsterman, was found outside his Long Island house by two men who were walking on the island, which is off Portland, McCausland said.
McCausland said the death is “unexplained” and that a team of detectives was taken to the island in a Portland fire boat.
Hanson’s body has been taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta, where an autopsy will take place on Thursday.
