BANGOR, Maine — A sport utility vehicle was destroyed Sunday when it caught fire while being repaired near a Hildreth Street storage facility.

No one was injured in the fire but the GMC Jimmy was destroyed, according to Deputy Fire Chief Darrell Cyr.

Black smoke reportedly could be seen from outer Hammond Street.

Firefighters from the Main Street and Griffin Road stations responded to the call about noon, Cyr said.

The SUV was just five feet away from the storage facility, which suffered some minor damage, he said.
