ELLSWORTH, Maine — Three people were arrested Monday on robbery charges in connection with an incident that occurred more than two years ago, according to police.
Anthony B. Pollard, Dale A. Pollard and Jennifer L. Murphy each have been charged with robbery and theft, Ellsworth police Lt. Harold Page said Tuesday. Dale Pollard, 22, and Murphy, 21, live in Hancock. Anthony Pollard, 22, of Bar Harbor was charged last year with falsifying physical evidence in connection with the same incident.
In Maine, robbery is a Class A felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine. The theft charges are Class E misdemeanors.
The day of the robbery, on Aug. 5, 2011, police said two people wearing masks and dressed in police-like gear confronted several juveniles who were having a small party in the early morning hours in a garage on Shore Road. The intruders, at least one of whom was armed with a handgun, demanded drugs and money and ordered the juveniles to lie on the ground, police said at the time. The robbers left with a small amount of cash and some marijuana.
Victims later told police that at least one of the robbers was wearing a ballistics vest similar to those worn by police and that they used walkie-talkies to communicate with a purported dispatcher. They also talked about returning with a search warrant.
Someone contacted by the robbers by walkie-talkie apparently picked them up in a car, but before they left, one of them fired at least one shot into the air, police have said. A shell casing was recovered at the scene.
In addition to the three people arrested Monday, a 17-year-old boy was charged in March last year with robbery in connection with the same incident. Police have said it was the juvenile, who since has pleaded guilty to his involvement, who brandished the gun during the incident.
