Fire marshal: Waldoboro mobile home blaze ‘intentionally set’

By Beth Brogan, BDN Staff

WALDOBORO, Maine — A Nov. 14 fire that destroyed a Union Road mobile home was intentionally set, an investigator from the state fire marshal’s office said Thursday.

“Through our investigation, we determined that the fire originated in the bathroom,” Sgt. Ken Grimes of the state fire marshal’s office said Thursday.

Only one resident of the building, Eric Buckley, was home at the time, Grimes said.

Firefighters from three communities responded to the blaze just before 11:30 a.m. to find “significant fire” in the structure, The Lincoln County News reported.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed, according to Grimes.

Waldoboro Fire Chief Paul Smeltzer did not immediately return a phone call Thursday.
