Man accused of trading post theft, altercation with security guard

By Kimberley Haas, Foster's Daily Democrat

KITTERY, Maine — A North Hampton man was arrested and accused of shoplifting after reportedly getting in a physical altercation with security guards at the Kittery Trading Post on Friday afternoon.

Mark R. Schwarz, 30, was caught stealing from the outdoor sporting goods store at approximately 1:30 p.m., according to Sgt. Gary Eaton of the Kittery Police Department.

Eaton would not say what Schwarz is accused of taking, but did say this case would be charged as a felony theft.

Eaton also relayed that Schwarz is a fugitive from justice due to the fact he has outstanding warrants against him. The warrants for his arrest originated in New Hampshire, Eaton said.

As a fugitive from justice, Schwarz is not entitled to bail. He will remain in York County Jail until he is arraigned on Monday.
