Firefighters in St. George battling blaze at boat shop

ST. GEORGE, Maine — Fire crews from four towns were battling a fire Wednesday night at a boat shop off Route 73.

The fire was at a building at Clark Island Boat Works, said Rockland Fire Chief Charles Jordan Jr.

Crews from Thomaston, Owls Head and South Thomaston responded to assist St. George for the fire, which was reported at about 8 p.m.

Clark Island Boat Works is located at 4 Rein Road. The business was started in 1978 and is operated by Charles Daniel “Dan” MacCaffray, according to the company’s website.
