By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BREWER, Maine — Police are seeking a woman who allegedly attempted to rob a local convenience store early Tuesday.

The suspect went into the Circle K on North Main Street shortly before 5:30 a.m. and demanded cash, according to Brewer Deputy Chief Jason Moffitt.

The woman handed the clerk a threatening note stating she had a firearm, according to Moffitt. No weapon was displayed and when the clerk refused to give the suspect any cash, she fled.

Moffitt said the suspect headed toward the North Brewer Shopping Center.

The woman is described as 5 feet, 2 inches tall, weighing 100 pounds. She was wearing bluejeans, a Nike gray hooded sweatshirt and a blue fleece under the sweatshirt, Moffitt said.

Any witnesses are asked to call Brewer police at 989-7001 and ask for Detective Kristie Bouchard or Detective Sgt. Anthony Pinette.

Correction: An earlier version of this story reported that a woman attempted to rob a Circle K on Monday. It was Tuesday, Sep. 3.
