ROCKLAND, Maine — Former Mayor Hal Perry has taken out nomination papers to return to the city council.
Perry was elected to the council in 2005 on his third try for the office. He was elected mayor by his council peers in November 2007 and served in that post for a year. He sought another term in 2010 but fell short in the year in which William Clayton and Larry Pritchett were elected.
Clayton, now the city’s mayor, announced Tuesday night he would not be seeking re-election. Pritchett said he has yet to decide on whether to run again.
Perry joins Louise MacLellan-Ruf, who also has taken out papers. The deadline for filing is Sept. 23 to get on the Nov. 5 ballot.
