PORTLAND, Maine — The hearing in federal court in which a South Carolina man was to have pleaded guilty at 4 p.m. Wednesday to child pornography charges has been delayed, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.

Daniel Cobb, 37, of Rock Hill, S.C., was expected to plead guilty to one count each of sexual exploitation of a minor and transportation of child pornography, according to information posted on the court ’s Electronic Case Filing system .

A new hearing date has not been set.

Cobb was arrested after he and a Portland man shared pictures of themselves sexually abusing children separately.

David Muise, 26, the man with whom Cobb is accused of trading images, waived indictment and pleaded guilty in January in federal court in Portland to one count of sexual exploitation of a minor.

A sentencing date has not been set. Muise has been held without bail since Oct. 15, according to a previously published report.

The men came to the attention of investigators in September 2012 after the Portland man allegedly sent a photo of his genitalia over a sleeping child to a Canadian girlfriend in Langley, British Columbia, according to court documents. The woman contacted the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, who alerted American authorities.

Muise and Cobb face a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years in federal prison on the sexual exploitation count. Cobb faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 20 years in prison on the transportation charge.

A fine of up to $250,000 on each count also could be imposed.
