SCARBOROUGH, Maine — A man staying at a Scarborough motel is facing charges after police learned he gave tattoos to two 14-year-old girls, police said.

Joshua Grant, 35, who is staying at the Downeaster Motel on Route 1, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful sexual contact, assault, and tattooing a minor illegally, according to a release issued by Scarborough police.

Police did not say where on the girls’ bodies Grant performed the tattoos, but state law prohibits him from giving tattoos to minors under the age of 18, which warranted the sexual contact charge.

Grant was also not licensed as a tattoo artist through the Department of Health and Human Services, police said.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone who has had similar contact with Grant is asked to contact Scarborough police at 883-6361.
