SCARBOROUGH, Maine — A teenage girl from southern Maine who was reported missing Thursday was found safe in Old Town, according to police.

Scarborough police said Rachel Ann Wallace, 17, never arrived at Scarborough High School on Thursday morning. Scarborough police confirmed in an afternoon press release that Wallace had been located in Old Town and was safe.

Police did not elaborate on where in Old Town Wallace was found.

Wallace left her residence for Scarborough High School at 8 a.m. Thursday in a blue Mitsubishi, telling her mother she was going on a class field trip, police said.

The school later contacted Wallace’s mother when the teen did not arrive at school, according to police.
