ALFRED, Maine — Two more men, including a Kennebunk lawyer who is on the town’s zoning board of appeals, have been fined on charges of engaging the services of alleged prostitute Alexis Wright.
Wright, 30, of Wells is charged with running a prostitution operation out of her Kennebunk Zumba studio and nearby office space for more than a year and a half. She has pleaded not guilty to 106 counts, including prostitution, violation of privacy and tax-related offenses. Her business partner, Mark Strong Sr., 57, of Thomaston is charged with 59 counts, including promotion of prostitution and violation of privacy. He also has pleaded not guilty.
So far, more than 60 men and one woman have been charged with engaging a prostitute, including the 14 who have been fined. In response to a request from the York County Coast Star, Deputy District Attorney Justina McGettigan identified two more men who recently pleaded guilty directly through the court.
On Monday, Dec. 31, Jens-Peter Bergen, 54, of Kennebunk and Dale Madore, 44, of North Yarmouth both pleaded guilty through their attorney. Bergen, a local lawyer who sits on the Kennebunk Zoning Board of Appeals, was fined $730, including surcharges. Madore was fined $1,210, including surcharges.
Strong is scheduled for trial in January. Wright’s trial is scheduled for May.

How do they come up with the different dollar figures for the fines? One man gets $730, the other $1210? Did the second man do it better? Did the first man not really have his heart into it based on his video performance? If one were to perform really badly could they receive a rebate akin to the unearned income tax credit?

Often wondered that same — a dozen or more guys in court for the same exact offense and not two fines are the same. Good lawd, lets hope they’re not in the Judges Chambers with those tapes and a ruler! ARGH!
