BANGOR, Maine — A federal jury Tuesday convicted a local man of being part of a conspiracy to sell crack cocaine out of neighboring apartments on Ohio Street.
Christopher Mullins, 44, of Bangor was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 28 grams or more of cocaine base, which is the equivalent of nearly an ounce.
The defendant did not react when the verdict was read.
Mullins faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not been set.
The trial began Monday before a jury of five men and seven women. The jury deliberated for about an hour and 15 minutes before announcing its verdict.
Mullins originally was charged in state court last November. He was indicted by a federal grand jury in January.
He has been held without bail since his arrest last year.
Mullins is the second person to go on trial in the crack cocaine distribution ring. Kizzy Fader, 33, of Bangor was convicted in May. Her sentencing date has not been set.
Fader and Mullins were two of more than a dozen people arrested Nov. 3, 2011, after agents with the MDEA and Bangor police raided adjoining apartments at 100 and 102 Ohio St. in Bangor. The investigation, which has been linked to a Dominican drug-trafficking operation based in New York City, has led to the indictment of 13 people by a federal grand jury, including Fader and Mullins, according to court documents.

Bangor police must know of several others in that area . I even informed them . I can not understand why they do not walk in the area a couple times a day. Seems like those guys drinking outside have lots of visitors like the guy who tried to sell drugs to my middle school son. How many of these people who get help from the city of Bangor are even from Bangor?
Bobby, I think you mean well; however, I would be careful what I Post….such as “I even informed them”
Be careful what he says ??
Or what…. he may end up in a burning car with a bullet in his head?
Maybe?
Look when A Man tries to sell drugs to my middle school son in front of me yes I will Rat you out. I would care to bet i own more guns than that man dose. People are in too much fear that what kept Carlson in power .
Oh God… bringing Carlson into this…
Look, I don’t care how many guns you have. Dan Borders had guns too and he thought he was a tough guy, as well.
Trying to selling drugs to your kid is wrong and if a person actually did that then you have every reason to be concerned. However, I have NEVER seen ANYONE sell drugs to kid. EVER. And I have spent some time around ol’ Bangor. Also, while informing the police about people selling drugs to your kids is all well and good by me (people should be able to use if they please, but selling to kids is unacceptable) I don’t believe that being so open about it is smart.
Do what you have to do, but don’t go throwing up a flag that says “I talk”. Protecting your family is rational, but inviting people to absolutely hate you is not. If you actually live in Bangor you’d do well to be less like a lion and more like a… regular cat, i guess. Be stealthy.
“Never be afraid of a loud man, because you’ll always hear him coming.”
His claim was he did not know it was a kid and its just weed . Even most drug users I believe would agree I have to do what I have to do. That area of Bangor is bad I do not live in Bangor . To me weed is not as bad as alcohol but when you cross those lines peddling on the street to a kid knowing he is involved in a lot more than some pot something need to be done.
Hopefully the Police will clean up this city. I can’t even sell my house because it’s so bad!!
Ohio street has to be the most drug infested street in Maine. I read several Maine newspapers a day for 13 years and i would say that street has been number one, in repeating stories of drugs. About 4 weeks ago, Listening to the scanner, Skow cops stopped a Bangor resident from Ohio street for a traffic violation one night. I was curious why he was here in Skowtown.
People can’t go places? Why does it matter why he was there? It was a traffic violation and Id bet not everyone who lives on Ohio is a drug addict. You do know Ohio is a lengthy street, right?
You ever go to Bangor? What’re you doing there? Driving around, doing things, that’s what. Id guess thats probably what that guy was doing. But, maybe he gets his drugs from your town? Boy, wouldn’t that be a hoot.
Lower Ohio St. in Bangor is full of junkies and dealers. I call it the ant farm. When you drive through there in the evening all of the worker ants are scuttling in and out of the buildings. I use the term “worker” but it sure isn’t legitimate work. It would be a great area for two Bangor cops to walk a constant foot patrol.
I travel Ohio Street quite often starting from where it intersects with Hammond Street. I don’t think I have ever gone past that area when there wasn’t a group of guys and sometimes girls sitting around outside on doorsteps shooting the breeze. It doesn’t seem to matter what time of day it is. They’re almost always sitting out there. I rather doubt they are discussing their contributions to their community.
