WATERVILLE, Maine — Maine State Police searched Messalonskee Stream once again in an effort to find missing toddler Ayla Reynolds on Friday morning.
Scheduled maintenance on the North Street bridge in Waterville provided an opportunity for police to search the area again, said Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.
“A scheduled maintenance where the water levels were lowered allowed us to utilize that for a search,” said McCausland early Friday afternoon.
Maine State Police detectives, Waterville police and a game warden searched a roughly half-mile area of the river, he said. Nothing related to Ayla Reynolds was recovered.
Police found a “pink bicycle. That’s it,” said McCausland.
The search wrapped up mid-Friday morning. No other searches are scheduled at this time, he said.
It’s the first water search for the missing toddler since July 17, when police combed the Kennebec River in an effort to find Ayla.
Ayla Reynolds was 20 months old when she disappeared from the home of her father, Justin DiPietro, in Waterville on Dec. 17 last year.

Yes they do, personally i know her mom, not her dad that much as they left each other. But its odd, why will he not talk to the press, asking for help, she is.
Sweet little girl, where are you? I hope your spirit guides the authorities and they finally get the evidence needed to put your murderers away for life.
Guilt is for those who possess a conscience. Maybe the guilty party feels no guilt. But that doesn’t mean he/she doesn’t have fear. As you said, fear that the ringing phone is news about finding her remains. Fear the knock on the door is the police with a search warrant. Fear of those tight handcuffs. Fear of fellow inmates who won’t be kind to a baby killer. Fear isn’t as good as guilt. But if that’s what the killer is feeling, it might keep him/her awake at night…..and that’s just as good. Why should the wicked sleep unless it’s to have nightmares……about getting caught?
Apparently just seeing my words about phone rings and door knocks and doing the “Right Thing” disturbed someboday….did I touch a nerve? Don’t flag my comment…..just do the Right Thing. This will never go away.
Everyday I still hope to see news that Ayla has been found. How can someone keep something like this a secret?? 66readerwriter is right Justin must not have a conscience or even his sister and that friend. I hope they wake up every night with nightmares about Ayla. What did she do to make them not even care?? I really hope they get what they deserve.
Her dad knows real well where she is, or what was done with her. Jason is keeping it quiet, i mean come on, look at Trish she is out there trying to look for her, Jason is not. That is a sign of something if you would say so
First of all let me explain to you before you get out of hand, not that you already have not. I did not say he did it , did i. All i said is i wish he would come clean to who knows it . He know who did it and is holding it. If he did not, then why not talk to the press. May this little one rest in peace where ever she is, and no worries the truth will come out soon. Peace out Tux
he can’t sue he spent all his money buying Ayla’s life insurance
Right, and he bought this just before, this happened. Coincedence if you would say
If you know Jason real well, please tell him to sue us for slander. Would love to see that in Court. Kind of funny actually.
First of all it takes more than one flag to get a comment flagged, believe me, someone tried to do it to me when i said his lawyer will get him off. I do not know what happened to little one. He does. If you are such good friends with him, tell him to tell the truth, for he will judged when he dies and goes to heaven or hell.
Do me a favor Tux when you see Jason, tell him that he should tell them what he knows. They are gonna eventually catch who did it, not saying he did it, but he knows where she is. May she rest in peace where ever she is.
