WEST BATH, Maine — For the second time in a month, a new anonymous tip texting service lead Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Department to an underage drinking party that resulted in seven people receiving summonses.
The new eTip program allows community members to send tips to police about underage drinking, drug use and several other crimes.
On Aug. 24 at 12:38 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence off Berry’s Mill Road after the department received the eTip about underage drinking. Chief Deputy Brett Strout said a 16-year-old female of West Bath was charged with furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol. Her mother was notified and came to pick up her daughter from the girl’s father’s house where the party took place.
Zachary Chart, 18, of 73 Jordan Ave., Brunswick was arrested for disorderly conduct and issued a summons for possession of alcohol by a minor. His 20-year-old brother, Matthew Chart, with the same address, was also summoned for possession of alcohol by a minor.
Also summoned for possession of a usable amount of marijuana was 19-year-old Henry Conroy, no address listed; Allen Moore, 19, of 19 Reed Way in Brunswick; Sophia Concolino, 19, no address listed; and 20-year-old Sean Dunn with a last known address of 38 Moody Road in Brunswick.
Responding to the incident from the sheriff ’s department were deputies Adam Temple, Matt Shiers and Mark Anderson, as well as Sgt. Greg Siegel.
Two teens were charged with possession of alcohol by a minor on July 24 by the sheriff’s department and Bath police following another eTip about underage drinking activity.
