BELFAST, Maine — The three men police say are responsible for a vandalism spree Tuesday night have been arrested and charged with aggravated criminal mischief.

Charged were Jacob Denham, 21, Damion Saucier, 19, and William Hurley, 20, all of Belfast.

Belfast Police Detective Bryan Cunningham said Thursday that a broken bottle found in the bottom of the City Park pool linked Denham to the crime.

Police identified Denham buying a bottle of Smirnoff Blueberry Vodka from a security video at the Big Apple on Route 1 sometime before the vandalism occurred. Part of a bottle of the same blueberry liquor was found on the pool bottom, Cunningham said.

In all, the men are believed to be responsible for breaking a window in an outbuilding on Bridge Street, and breaking windows at MacLeod Furniture and the Belfast Dance Studio on High Street. Flowers also were torn from flower boxes at several businesses along High Street and trash bins were overturned.

In the park, a window in a snack booth also was broken and a soda machine damaged. Blood was found on the glass, Cunningham said. “Jacob had a cut finger,” he said of Denham, suggesting the connection between the man and the crime.

Saucier and his father visited the police station Wednesday night to admit his involvement. Hurley and his father also contacted police to admit his role in the vandalism. Saucier and Hurley had posted bail Thursday, but Denham remained in custody, where he also was charged with violating a bail condition.

The men are believed to have been intoxicated at the time the vandalism occurred, Cunningham said. Other charges may follow, he added.

  1. At their ages their daddy’s shouldn’t have had to accompany them to the police station. They aren’t kids, just acting like kids.

    1. At their ages, it could be a good thing that Daddy made them turn themselves in and “man up”.

    2. when i was that age i got arrested when my parents got to the jail they told me you got yourself into this trouble you can get yourself out. and away they went left me rigt there. best thing they ever did taught me a lot

  2. Good for the fathers to march them right down there be accountable.  That has to be a hard choice for a parent, yet the right thing to do.  Hopefully they have learned their lesson from this in the end.

    1. Tax payers have already taken care of that for them…sure their hanging out tonight having a few laughs over it.

          1. Seriously are you that juvenile? Making a comment about me deleting a post on every removed one. My post were about making one point and that was perhaps more guidance from the generation before would have helped to keep these kids from making decisions that will remain with them for the rest of their lives — almost any job you apply for today does a background check…too bad their childish mistakes didn’t happen before 18…but, actually in at least one mans case it did and not only once…so ya when I (and I personally have) listened to the parents laughing about it throughout the years then read the third article about the third kid being in trouble I think it does go back to lack of parenting.

          2. I think you misunderstand. That was just my way of deleting my own posts. I can change them to dot dot dot if it will make you happy?

          3. But if you wish to continue, I’ll just add that there’s no shortage of petty people out there who think that their half-baked opinions based on quarter facts are the end-all be-all of the world. Coincidentally, these opinions ALWAYS work out to a sense of self-righteousness, and that right there should be enough to turn off any reasonable and fair-minded person.

Your own theories on parenting are obnoxious. There is no set formula for parenting, and it’s just as likely for a child to act out as a result of strict parenting as it is as a result of lax parenting. More so, probably, and probably more tragically.

Beyond all that, the sad fact is that you know nothing about the this family, how they raised their kids, or the motivations that drive their kids. You may think you do, but you don’t. You had the right idea when you deleted your posts – best idea you’ve had yet.

    1.  Jeeze Auntie Bullie. In case you’ve never actually had to represent constituents it means standing up and fighting for them and being the person you said you’d be. Politics isn’t for the weak at heart. Some times it’s not pleasant to participate in it or watch. But it’s hard work coming to consensus and compromise or enjoying victory as well as suffering defeat. I’ve had my share of all of them. Marina and I may disagree from time to time but she is certainly capable of giving as good as he gets. Marina is as tough as any city councilor needs to be so have no fear for Marina. I am happy to be challenged any time but I do not get rolled by people just because they happen to disagree.  I was elected, four times, by very big majorities and I believe the great majority of Belfast and I are pretty much on the same page. If not; they’ll throw me out in a heart beat. That’s why we have elections. And I have never expected to be liked, admired, or supported by 100%. I get that. And I still do my best to represent all of the people.

  3. Bullies don’t fall far from the tree. Councilor Uncle Hurley acts
mightier than thou at City Hall- bullying Marina and anyone that
challenges him, no surprise kids are struggling ethically

  4. As the Uncle of Will Hurley I can tell you it brings nothing but shame, embarrassment, and pain to me and his family.  Will is a young man in the midst of stupid decisions and he’ll be the one who has to make up and pay for this. I am sorry for what Will and the men he was with did. I am really proud of the Belfast PD for nailing them so fast. These three will all get exactly what they need: the strong arm of the law.  I do not believe they’ll just get a “slap on the wrist” as that would be really a shame and a waste.
