BANGOR, Maine — The man who robbed a Rite Aid pharmacy late Monday afternoon remains at large, Bangor police said Tuesday.
An arrest had yet to be made as of 6 p.m. Tuesday, Bangor police Lt. Tom Reagan said.
The robbery took place about 4:30 p.m. Monday at the Rite Aid pharmacy at the intersection of Union and Fourteenth streets, Reagan said Monday shortly after the incident occurred.
The robber was described as a “very grubby” older man wearing bluejeans and two hooded sweatshirts. One of the sweatshirts was worn backwards and had eye slits cut into it, Reagan said.
The robber last was seen running between houses in the Manners Avenue area, a few streets over from the Rite Aid, Reagan said. Additional details, including what the robber was after and whether he got it, were not available on Tuesday.
The Maine State Police, the Maine Warden Service and tracking dogs were brought to the area in an effort to locate the man.
Shortly after the robbery, signs reading “Temporarily closed. Sorry for any inconvenience” were placed on both of the pharmacy’s entrance doors. The store since has reopened.
Anyone with information about the robber or his whereabouts is asked to call the Bangor Police Department at 947-7382. Those who prefer to remain anonymous can leave a message on the Police Department’s tip line by pressing 6.

Where is the security footage? Cameras are very cheap these days, most places have them on the exterior casting wide and long views. Rite Aid should start a massive campaign for safety and security at their locations. It wouldn’t cost much, they probably could care less about the cost of goods lost but by making the public VERY aware of the fact that they WILL get caught might deter some of the robberies and perhaps save an innocent life. I do know I am glad I carry a piece everywhere I go.
This is rite aid remember, the cameras are not great

He gets an A for creativity!
Hey BPD, thanks for describing half the people you’ll see between first and 7th street!
Once again a drug addled miscreant robs a Rite-Aid and eludes the local law
officers.
This happens over and over and over and so far a viable solution
to this problem has yet to be presented, or implemented , by anyone.
The free for all at Rite-Aid continues.
