WASSAIC, N.Y. – Elizabeth Irene (Tinker) Hafford, 75, a longtime area resident, formerly of Danforth, died Monday, March 19, 2012, at New Milford Hospital, New Milford, Conn. Born Oct. 31, 1936, in Danforth, she was daughter of the late Irving Tinker and Annie (Robinson) Frances.

On Aug. 28, 1954, in Danforth, she married Alton K. Hafford, who died Nov. 17, 1973. Mrs. Hafford was a therapy aide and food service worker at the Wassaic Developmental Center, Wassaic, N.Y., for 20 years, retiring in 1994. Mrs. Hafford was a member of New York State Civil Service Employees Association, who also enjoyed reading and taking care of children.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Hafford and his wife, Joy, of Pine, Ariz., and Allen Brown and his wife, Teresa, of Concord, N.H.; three daughters, Theresa Jones-Lyke and her husband, Steven, of Troy, N.Y., Barbara Jones of Millerton, N.Y., and Izettia Hafford-Nicoll and her husband, John, of Saratoga, N.Y.; a brother, Norman Francis of Danforth; 11 grandchildren, Kristine Hafford, Michael Rutchman, Joshua Lyke, Isaiah Lyke, Kara Boyles, Sheri Brown, Sonya Brown, Stephane Brown, Melissa Hafford-Dory, Tyler O’Dell and Alden Nicoll; and three great-grandchildren, Ethan and Alexander Boyles, and Kylee Peltak. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Barbara A. (Tinker) Carmondy.

Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, N.Y., with funeral services held at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Jon Carter officiating.
