Patrick Dapolito is led from York County Superior Court in Alfred in 2010 after his initial appearance on charges he killed his wife, Kelly Winslow, in their Limington home.

ALFRED, Maine — A Limington man who told police he accidentally shot his wife after a night of drug use before changing his story to put the blame on drug dealers has been convicted of murder.

Jurors in York County Superior Court returned the guilty verdict against Patrick Dapolito in the killing of Kelly Winslow, who was shot in the head in their home.

Dapolito changed his story from calling it an accidental shooting to put the blame on drug dealers who allegedly killed her in retribution in March 2010.

The Portland Press Herald quotes prosecutors as saying Dapolito changed his story because evidence didn’t match his story. Court documents showed Dapolito initially told police that he had a gun in his hand and had no idea how it went off.
