ROCKLAND, Maine — Local police arrested Christie Look, 35, of Rockland on Tuesday and charged her with two counts of arson for a fire that damaged an apartment building in December.
The arrest is the result of a combined investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, Rockland police and the Rockland Fire Department into a Dec. 1 fire at 25 Talbot Ave. in Rockland, according to a news release issued by the Maine Department of Public Safety. The fire caused significant fire damage to one apartment and moderate fire-related damage to the other three apartments. All occupants were displaced temporarily.
No injuries were reported.
The apartment building, which is assessed by the city at $194,500, is owned by Bruce and Leah Braithwaite of Fort Pierce, Fla.
Look was a tenant of the apartment where the fire broke out and was questioned by investigators with the fire marshal’s office and Rockland police detectives the night of the fire. The investigation has continued since then, according to the Public Safety Department.
Look is charged with two counts of arson, based on an arrest warrant obtained by fire marshal Investigator Kenneth MacMaster after consulting with the Knox County District Attorney’s Office. Two charges of arson were brought against Look, with one charge resulting from the property damage and the other charge because of the endangerment of other building tenants and firefighters.
Look is being held at the Knox County Jail.
