PORTLAND, Maine — Members of the Occupy Maine movement are preparing to vacate a downtown Portland park after receiving eviction notices to be gone by Monday.
Some Occupy members on Saturday dismantled a communal warming hut in Lincoln Park, while packing up pallets and putting debris in a Dumpster. Members also have been asked to remove their personal tents and belongings.
City officials have issued an eviction notice giving Occupy Maine protesters until 8 a.m. Monday to clear out. A judge on Wednesday denied Occupy’s request for a preliminary injunction to stop the city from evicting demonstrators from the park, where they’ve been camping since October to protest corporate greed and economic inequality.
Some Occupy Maine members have told reporters they have no intention of leaving the park and expect to be arrested.

Spring is 45 days away: 6 weeks from now Mom and Dad will find another tent for Junior.
lucky 4 mom and pop, entertaining at best 4 most.Whether I agree or not I’m grateful I’m in a place where we have the right to protest.Even when no point is clear.
Hopefully they’ll be back – right before the November elections…
Maybe Obama will give OWS another pat on the back for all their violent behavior.
Hopefully they’ll be back . . . in some other state.
This protest with a very vague message and a weird sort of demonstration/encampment was told to move on. Good riddance!
Occupiers have until Monday 8 a.m. to get out although some say they will stay and be arrested. They have No Special Rights…everybody knew this from the beginning.
Are we going to be treated to Chapter 2 of the Occupy movement later this year? I hope the Democrats can get the Occupiers fired up again in time to help the Republicans win in the November elections. Gonna be entertaining!
But Mommy and Daddy always told them they were winners and they got trophies for participating in whatever they did, so they must be special and above the law.
They’ll probably leave the place a mess for someone else to clean up like “Occupy Bangor” did. Rumor has it that the cleanup of the site near the Bangor library cost the city almost $3000 to clean up. Thanks a lot ya bums.
Ask the city what the clean up costs are after a waterfront concert.
Thank you for your commitment ! There is an 81 year old fellow in Palmyra that is getting pushed around (taken to court) by the town because he has a porch that they want down….maybe Occupy Palmyra could be your next stop. He seems like the type to welcome protesting …..
Gee, from the looks of the place, I already
thought that was an occupy site.
Ohh, the Humanity!
Back to Mommy’s basement for you.
Who from Occupy Maine is paying for the dumpsters used to clean up the refuse from the Occupy Piggery? Or is Mayor Brenna going to pay out of his own pocket since he is so concerned about the Portland taxpayers? Or did Chellie Pingree get a Federal Grant to cover the cost of the Piggery clean up?
These people are true Patriots if I did not have 2 little ones at home I would join them.
