WALDOBORO, Maine — Two people are recovering from injuries they suffered Saturday when the family’s pet pit bull attacked them in their home.

Police and rescue workers went to 230 Kaler’s Corner Road in Waldoboro just after 7 p.m. Saturday to find a 12-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy suffering from what were described in a press release as injuries not considered life-threatening. Both victims were treated at the scene and then taken to Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.

The dog was taken to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter and placed in quarantine, and police continue to investigate the attack, according to Waldoboro Police Chief Bill Labombarde.
