AUGUSTA, Maine — A state lawmaker who was paid by a political action committee for writing a blog says she did nothing wrong.
Sen. Cynthia Dill of Cape Elizabeth says the disclosure by political blog Dirigo Blue that she was paid $4,000 in 2011 indicates Maine’s campaign disclosure laws are working.
Dill writes a blog called DCW, short for Dill’s Conventional Wisdom, and she says it’s legal to be reimbursed by her Dill Leadership PAC. She said Tuesday she didn’t have access to campaign finance reports to know precisely how much she was paid.
The Democrat announced last week that she’s running for U.S. Senate, so the state leadership PAC is no longer active. She says she’ll study federal campaign finance laws before deciding whether to continue the reimbursement practice.
To answer her initial question: Yes she is crazy.

Yet to come fully into the light is her involvement in manipulating the vote taken in Medway that is now being challenged. She has been an operative for Quimby in her campaign to create a national park that would be a seed for RESTORE’s vision of a 3.2 million acre forest preserve. You’d think as a new Senator, she would be busy serving her voters, but instead she is busy serving an outside contributor to her campaign. Now that she is studying federal campaign finance laws we can rest easy, right?
Not only manipulated the vote but counted the votes too!! What on earth is a senator from Cape Elizabeth doing counting votes in Medway? How blatantly brazen is that? Maybe we should all go down and vote when the nuclear power plant issue comes up in Cape Elizabeth.

I am surprised nobody has filed complaints with the Secretary of State’s Office and the AG’s office having her investigated for abuse her power as a state official. This woman has no business manipulating votes and counting votes. It is wrong. She is doing everything she can to push this park through which is opposed by alot of state and federal politicians, business groups, sportsmen, cities and towns in Maine. The Liberals want this park because they have no ideas to create jobs. While bringing back more of the same failed ideas of the last 40 years while also wanting Gay Marriage, Quimby’s Park and More Casinos and other types of Gambling and use all Gambling money in Maine to expand DHHS and Welfare.

I am not a Dill fan, but she had nothing to do with the Medway vote. The Medway special town meeting was advertised and posted just like the others I have been to for the last twenty years or so.
Believe it or not the same people from town that are usually at all the town meetings and public hearings were there too. The ones that weren’t there are the ones crying fou, but then again most of them haven’t been there for the last twenty years or so. If they had been attending the meetings for the last twenty or so years they would recognize that this was posted, advertised and handled just like any other, in fact it had some tighter controls on this to ensure people from away didn’t vote.
Dill may have counted votes when peoples arms was raised but so weren’t many others, just like any other town meeting. The official count is taken by an appointed ballot clerk just like the other meetings. For everyone that says the majority didn’t speak because there were only 50 or so people that voted, that’s all the citizens we get at most town meetings in June.
Just looking for information here — I understood the meeting was called to receive information, not for the town to take an official position on the park question, can you confirmed the purpose of the special town meeting? Who was the official ballot clerk?
Donna Bishop was the ballot clerk, Donna works in the town office as the tax collector. The town warrant with the articles was posted in five locations in town and in the Lincoln News. The warrant was delivered and posted by an officer of the law. I believe it asked “If the citizens of Medway supported a resolve by the selectman to support a feasibility study for the proposed national park adjacent to the East Branch”If you want to know the exact wording of the articles call the town office at 746-9532 I am sure they would give you a copy.

Olympia Snowe does not support Roxanne Quimby’s North Maine Woods National Park. Cynthia Dillweed is a strong supporter of Quimby’s half-baked plan. Is Ms. Quimby is going to buy a Senator to help her get the deal done? I think Rox should have gone with Rochelle Pingree. That’s a seat I’d like to see vacated by its incumbent. Yes to question one, Newt, Mitt, Dill, most of them abuse and stretch the intended regulations on “earning” money that makes many lose faith in our political system. Its a shame we’ve developed a system that only the wealthy can run for higher office. But I’ve worked since I was thirteen and after fifty-three years working I can now pick and choose.
