PORTLAND, Maine — A state senator from Cape Elizabeth and a Portland home builder say they are running in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate.
Sen. Cynthia Dill and Ben Pollard said Friday they will run in the June 12 primary against state Rep. Jon Hinck of Portland and former Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap of Old Town, who previously announced their candidacies.
The 47-year-old Dill told The Portland Press Herald she hopes Maine is ready for what she called a new voice and new generation of leadership in Washington.
The 39-year-old Pollard, who grew up in Blue Hill and owns Pollard Builders, said his campaign will focus on economic development and national security.
The Senate seat is now held by Republican Olympia Snowe, who is facing two challengers in the GOP primary.

How can a true democrat focus on economic development and national security??
Could he be the Snow or collins of the Democrats ?
Two party systems always fail in the long run, based on the history of this country, the people need more options, people do not want tenured politicians. Time for some fresh boots on the ground in Washington.
Like the 63 Tea Party freshmen that were elected last time?
YES
The buildin’ business isn’t so good these days.
Might as well run for Senate.
I hear they get good benefits even though there ain’t no union.
Senator Dill might as well run for US Senate, since she’s trying run Millinocket from Cape Elizabeth.
