Dexter man with prior domestic assault charge arrested again

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

DEXTER, Maine — A local man with a history of domestic violence assault was arrested again for the same charge late Thursday night, according to police.

Police were called to the home of Christopher Marques, 37, of Dexter after he allegedly punched his wife, Dexter police Chief Jim Emerson said Friday.

The woman did not require medical attention, according to Emerson.

Marques was arrested and taken to the Dexter Police Department by Officer Gary Morin, Emerson said. Because he had a prior arrest for domestic assault last fall, Marques is facing a Class C felony charge of domestic violence assault stemming from Thursday’s arrest.

Because his bail conditions require him not to have any contact with his wife, Emerson said that Marques was driven to the Dexter-Corinna town line, where a Newport police officer took Marques to a hotel for the night.

If convicted, Marques faces up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
