New York man arrested at OccupyMaine encampment

PORTLAND, Maine — A New York man who had outstanding warrants out of that state was arrested over the weekend at the OccupyMaine encampment at Lincoln Park, police said Tuesday.

Robert Fecu, 26, of Brooklyn is currently being held at the Cumberland County Jail on $500 cash bail after a knife was found on his person, Portland police Lt. Gary Rogers said.

Officers were dispatched to the encampment at 2:45 a.m. Sunday to investigate a disturbance, and Fecu, who had been carrying a knife, was arrested and charged.

Due to the outstanding violation of parole warrants Fecu had out of New York, he is also being charged with being a fugitive from justice, Rogers said. Authorities in Maine are in the process are contacting their counterparts in New York.
