The Bangor Daily News encourages comments about stories, but you must follow our terms of service.

In brief:

  Arrest logs are public information, are they not? The lack of information by the feds is amazing. Shouldn’t public officials state whether anyone is being held by such a raid or give a reason why this information is being withheld?   Once dated a guy who delivered for a beverage distributor…..said of all the restaurants he delivered beer/soda to, the Asian restaurants were the worst…..floors lined with crates to keep the roaches from crawling on people’s feet.  I’ll never eat at one again.  This just reinforces things.  No way are 18 people getting into a communishower before their lunch shift. Gross!

  What a sad statement of our society that many of you are commenting about the quality of the food at this restaurant with no apparent concern for the people whose lives are being affected by this “operation”.  Very disheartening indeed.

  Showed woman leaving. Why weren’t they checked or were they cleared? I know about a week ago a waitress in Skowhegan at a chinese restaurant told me she didn’t know how they were going to make it thru Sunday because they had lost all but 1 cook and a few waitresses. She is a friend of mine. She said, “d#mn if I know what the H#ll is going on?” Everyone around here is just up and disappearing! Then I took a friend to the “new buffet in skowhegan” and same thing! Do you think they got tipped off???????   I’d say just maybe..   Almost everyone I saw in both restaurants were white!  This now makes sense to me.

  One of my co-workers has been saying that for a long time. She wonders why you never see them out shopping or anything. She also said she stopped eating at Twin Super Buffet after she witnessed a worker pick a fork up off the floor and place it back in the buffet. I myself, have never eaten there. It’s Happy China Buffet on Stillwater for me!!!!

  If the workers were living in squalid conditions, how healthy were they to be food handlers? Perhaps the health inspectors should check out the restaurants since they were allowed to reopen.

  This type of thing is common all over this country.  Asian immigrants (usually illegal) living all in one place, all working for the same restaurant.  This is really nothing new.  The right wing just likes focusing on “the Mexicans”.

  Rainbows in brewer is the BEST CHINESE RESTAURANT IN THE STATE FAMILY OWNED AND OPERATED SWEET COUPLE AND TWO VERY NICE BOYS BEEN EATING THERE SINCE 2002 AND LOVE IT SEEN THE BOYS GROW UP AND THE SERVICE IS GREAT THANK YOU RAINBOWS FOR SERVING ME ALL THESE YEARS WITH NO WORRIES

  the staffing is rude, food is cold,floors and tables r sticky and soda is flat nasty place and this is one of the reason maine and country  has few jobs cuz  immigrants come here pay no taxes and ship our money to other country’s,they can work and be on welfare at the same time (why should tax payers haffta pay for immigrants to live in our country-they get treated better then u.s citizens do (americans) we work hard for our money and half of them get to live here free (sorry but it’s not our fault their country sucks)

  When Yoshi left his last employer to open his own place I do not eat at another place then in the Brewer/ Bangor area.

  The Twin was nto to bad when they first opened. But it did not take long for them to slide down the trail of the dragon so to speak. Also I have always disliked eating at a place where the waiters/ waitresses do not speak the native language at all.

  This guy I used to work with told me about when he would make deliveries there… he would go in the back door and have to step over a big pot of chicken filled with water and flies flying all around it in order to get through the doorway.   Happy China on stillwater is the best Chinese buffet in the state–much cleaner–better staff–better atmosphere—beef doesn’t taste like beef in any Chinese restaurant geeeez–its either sweetened or soured or both and everything is spicey–its westernized Asian food not nothing like real Chinese food–The Chinese actually think its humorous us westerners think this  is what they eat in China–I think in actuality its more Polynesian and Hawaiian.

  They are memory foam pillows, not massage pillows.  Wal-Mart sells them…$25. each.  They cradle your head and neck in comfort, and they don’t go flat like foam pillows.  (yes, I have one)
  edit: BedBath&Beyond also sells them (that’s where I got my new one—got the first one at Wal-Mart) and BB&B has a few more to choose from. If your neck or shoulders ache when you sleep or wake up, get one of these pillows—they do wonders.

  i hate to say it, but thats why i only eat at national chains when i eat out. all those companies have practices and procedures they follow. im not saying they get it right 100% of the time, but i just have to wonder about these chinese places. if they cant spell a menu item right, do you think they are able to read food safety regulations?
