Bangor man arrested after failing to stop for police

A Bangor man racked up several charges early Sunday morning after he led police on a brief pursuit through the city’s downtown.

Adam Feltis, 20, was charged with eluding an officer, driving to endanger and operating under the influence and then taken to Penobscot County Jail, Bangor police Lt. Tom Reagan said Monday night, citing police reports.

The episode that led to the arrest began about 1:30 a.m., when a city police officer reportedly saw Feltis commit a stop sign violation on Sanford Street and attempted to pull him over.

Feltis, however, kept driving, leading police on a pursuit that went from Clinton Street to Hammond Street and on toward State Street, where he reportedly drove through the Big Apple convenience store parking lot on State Street before heading on to Grove Street, where he eventually stopped.

Feltis remained behind bars late Monday night, a jail official confirmed. (Dawn Gagnon, BDN)
