Bangor man indicted in neighbor’s stabbing

BANGOR, Maine — A local man suspected of stabbing a neighbor with a kitchen knife earlier this month was among 49 people indicted on Wednesday by the Penobscot County grand jury.

Clinton Grubbs, 47, is charged with elevated aggravated assault, a Class A felony, for an incident on Jan. 6 in which he reportedly stabbed another man after an argument.

The victim, a 57-year-old man who lived in a building adjacent to Grubbs’ apartment on Essex Street, suffered stab wounds to his abdomen and his hand. The injuries were not life-threatening but did require emergency surgery, according to police.

Police who received the report of the stabbing found Grubbs standing outside the apartment and also recovered a weapon, a 4- or 5-inch kitchen knife, nearby.

Elevated aggravated assault is punishable by up to 25 years in prison. Grubbs will be arraigned at a later date.
