SAD 68 backs plan, but partners all say no

DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — While SAD 68 supported a school reorganization plan during a referendum vote Tuesday, all of its partners, including SAD 41 and SAD 12, rejected it, effectively killing the proposal.

SAD 68 voted 371-265 in support of the plan. The individual town votes in the district were Dover-Foxcroft, 289 yes, 167 no; Charleston, 28 yes, 32 no; Sebec, 22 yes, 23 no; and Monson, 32 yes, 43 no.

SAD 41 rejected the plan 242-52 and SAD 12 voted it down 203-12.

The votes in SAD 41 towns were Milo, 25 yes, 131 no; Brownville, 15 yes, 51 no; Atkinson, 5 yes, 27 no, and LaGrange, 7 yes, 33 no.

SAD 12 towns voted no: Jackman, 10 yes, 158 no; and Moose River, 1 yes, 45 no.

Towns that also were partners in the planning stages rejected the plan: Greenville, 14 yes, 244 no; Shirley, 2 yes, 37 no; Beaver Cove, 0 yes, 23 no; and Bowerbank, 1 yes, 29 no.
