Portland police handcuff, escort audience member out of City Council meeting

By Seth Koenig, BDN Staff
Portland police Chief Michael Sauschuck and a plain clothes police officer escort audience member Erika Elkins out of Monday night's City Council meeting. Elkins stood during an early portion of the meeting and told councilors she would outbid hotel developers RockBridge Capital LLC for 9,500 square feet of Congress Square park. The controversial proposed sale of the publicly owned property to RockBridge has drawn protests. Elkins interrupted the Monday meeting proceedings to say she wanted to buy the park instead using money she expects to receive as a result of a four-year-old lawsuit.
