Betsy Smith stepping down from EqualityMaine to spend more time with kids

Betsy Smith, executive director of EqualityMaine, is leaving her position at the end of September after 14 years. Smith said she wants to spend more time with her family. Smith led the organization through the passage of gay marriage by the Legislature in 2009, its repeal the same year by voters and the eventual approval of same-sex marriage last year.
