BREWER, Maine — A dog was rescued from a home’s second-story rooftop on Thursday afternoon, police said.

The dog, which neighbors said is named Jack, apparently pushed open the side panels of an air conditioner on the second floor of the 155 Oak Grove Drive residence sometime before 3 p.m. Thursday and walked out onto the roof.

The dog remained on its perch until Brewer rescue crews arrived shortly after 3 p.m.

Firefighter Kevin Pelotte and Brewer Fire Capt. Chris Dore used a ladder to climb onto the roof. Jack wagged his tail on their arrival. Pelotte and Dore then placed the air conditioner unit back inside the house and coaxed the dog back through the window and shut it behind him.
