JEFFERSON, Maine — The Jefferson Historical Society will have its annual Open House and Exhibit Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Old Jefferson Town House.
Items such as old school photographs, the sign from the former Jefferson Village School and a map created by students in the 1980’s are displayed as well as the quilt of Jefferson landmarks created by JHS members and others for the 1976 Bicentennial of the U.S., Civil War display, vintage household items and tools and more.
Tours of the building will allow visitors to see the progress of the restoration project. Jefferson memorabilia and tickets for the $500 cash raffle also will be available. The proceeds of the raffle project will support the restoration of the second floor of the building where suppers were held, local organizations met and the WWII citizens aviation observation corps me. The prize winners will be drawn at noon at the bandstand on Jefferson Day, August 18. The first name drawn will win $500; the 2nd, $100 and the 3rd, $75. For more information call 207-549-5258.
