ROCKLAND, Maine — A gathering for people with handicaps, veterans with disabilities, senior citizens, people with language and learning disabilities or dyslexia, and people with health concerns such as stroke or heart disease, cancer, diabetes, multiple sclerosis and similar diseases and illnesses will be held beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at Harbor Park.
The one-day free event will be held rain or shine. Bring a picnic lunch and, if you are able, chairs, as seating is limited.
The park will be open to its usual uses during the event, which was organized by Elizabeth Smith. A dropoff area will be designated at the site.
Smith said the event will be a time of fellowship, comfort and increasing public awareness of chronic issues.
