BANGOR, Maine — On July 25 and 26, 2013 the Lighthouse Radio Network (88.5fm WHCF) will be accepting donations from listeners to help out Sarah’s Cancer Hospitality House.
Sarah’s House was inspired by Sarah Robinson, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2010, and had to travel from Old Town to Boston for cancer treatments. While traveling that distance, Sarah and Ben (Sarah’s husband) learned there where places for cancer patients could stay for little to no cost during their treatments.
Sarah continued her treatment at the Lafayette Family Cancer Center in Maine. While there, she found out that many people had to travel great distances for their treatments. With the first-hand knowledge of the physical, emotional, and financial challenges that come with traveling for the cancer treatments, she wanted to help others. Sarah had a dream to bring a house to the community that would help people that were traveling great distances for their cancer treatment.
The radio stationn’s goal is to raise $10,000 for Sarah’s House. For more information, visit www.sarahshouseofmaine.org.
