HOULTON, Maine – Northern Maine’s agricultural fair season will start with a bang this week with the opening of the Houlton Agricultural Fair on Wednesday, July 4, at the Houlton Fair Grounds, Community Park.
The fair will host the largest fireworks show north of Portland for the national holiday, starting at 9:20 p.m. at the fair grounds, according to fair officials.
The fair will run July 4-8. Admission is $10 with on-site parking at $5 per vehicle. The popular event will feature more than 23 children’s games for children of all ages, a Demolition Derby, truck and tractor pulls, and more than 10 4-H livestock competitions in an expanded livestock area.
New this year is the Live and Local Music Fest starting at noon, Friday, July 6, featuring local bands playing all afternoon and evening at the softball field.
Friday, July 6, also is Family Day at the fair, when admission is $25 per carload. For information, go houltonfair.com
