Children’s Summer Reading Program kicks off with a “Splat!”

Bangor Public Library’s Children’s Department Welcomes The Chewonki Foundation’s “Bugmobile”

WHAT: The Bangor Public Library kicks off the Children Department’s summer reading program “Dig Into Reading” with a visit from The Chewonki Foundation’s “Bugmobile” on Tuesday, June 25 at 11 a.m.

“The Library is deeply invested in our community’s children,” says Barbara McDade, Director of the Bangor Public Library. “We are excited to kick-off our summer reading program showcasing the ‘Bugmobile’ and keeping kids engaged [in reading]…and helping to avoid the dreaded ‘summer reading slump.’”

The Chewonki Foundation’s “Bugmobile” transports the world of arthropods—insects and their relatives into the classroom. Using models, activities, and live specimens, they explore some of the fascinating adaptations essential for survival; including mimicry, camouflage, armor, and venom.
