PORTLAND, Maine — Portland Greendrinks featured the nonprofit Common Good Ventures on Tuesday, March 12, at Port City Music Hall to a enthusiastic, sell-out crowd. More than 400 people gathered to network, drink locally brewed soda, cider and beer, and share their nonprofit causes and stories.
Sean Sullivan, president of Portland Greendrinks, remarked, “Events like tonight’s Greendrinks in support of Common Good Ventures prove that the young professional community in Portland is passionate about giving back. Given a great venue and tasty brews from our generous sponsors Sebago Brewing, Allagash, Peak Organic, Baxter, Urban Farm Fermentory, and Green Bee Soda, combined with an organization that helps Portland’s nonprofit sector thrive, we once again were able to create an event where philanthropy and fun are indistinguishable.”
Attendees wrote on large sheets of paper their “favorite nonprofit” and “where they volunteer” – more than 73 agencies were listed. Drew Watt, president of Common Good Ventures, told the noisy crowd, “The nonprofits with the most votes will split the proceeds of tonight’s event with us,” an offer met with a resounding cheer.
Sexual Assault Response Services of Southern Maine (SARSSM) and Creative Trails were the top vote-getters and will receive $189.25 each.
