WATERVILLE, Maine — Adam Cowie-Haskell scored two goals in a span of 56 seconds to break a 1-1 tie and send Wesleyan University to a 3-1 victory over Colby College in NESCAC men’s soccer Saturday.
The two teams traded goals in the opening half and then combined for 23 shots in the final 45 minutes.
Cowie-Haskell scored the game-winning goal at 75:47 off a centering pass from Mike Gallo. He used his foot on that play and then used his head when he tallied off a header from a corner kick by Griffin Godsick at 76:43.
The Cardinals (5-4-1 overall, 2-4-0 NESCAC) scored at 8:48 when Charlie Gruner knocked in a shot off a scramble in front of the net.
The Mules (3-5-2, 1-3-2 NESCAC) tied the game at 1-1 on Jansen Aoyama’s second goal of the season at 24:45.
Wesleyan had a 22-17 shot advantage and a 6-5 margin in corner kicks. Eric Jasinski stopped seven shots for the Cardinals, while Avery Gibson made nine saves for the Mules.
