DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — The Foxcroft Academy defense limited Washington Academy to 56 total yards Friday night en route to a 41-0 victory over the Raiders in their Class D North football semifinal at Oakes Field.
The top-ranked Ponies (9-0) will host the winner of Monday’s 6 p.m. semifinal that sends No. 3 Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln (7-2) to No. 2 Bucksport (7-1) in next weekend’s regional championship game.
No. 5 Washington Academy, which posted the first postseason victory in program history in the quarterfinals, ends its season at 5-5.
Foxcroft held WA to 24 rushing yards, with Raiders’ 1,000-yard rusher Jaden Talbot gaining just nine yards on 10 carries.
Talbot did have a game-high 18 tackles.
Michaleb Niles led Foxcroft’s offense, rushing for 120 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries. He scored on runs of 8, 17 and 5 yards.
Jeremy Richard added touchdown runs of 5 and 10 yards for the Ponies, while Hyatt Smith scored on a 67-yard punt return. Smith averaged 57.5 yards on his two punt returns during the game.
