Van Buren Boys Basketball 54 at Washburn 91

VAN BUREN — Washburn outscored Van Buren 26-10 in the second quarter Wednesday night on its way to a 91-54 Eastern Maine Class D boys basketball preliminary victory.
Mitchell Worcester connected for a game-high 35 points to carry the second-seeded Beavers (18-1) into the quarterfinals. Nick Bragg netted 15 points, while Cameron Bragg and Noah Caron posted nine points each.
Marc LaJoie tossed in 25 points to pace No. 15 Van Buren (7-13). Caleb Roy chipped in eight points for the Crusaders.
