AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Thomas College baseball team came up short twice to Farmingdale State College, 1-0 and 2-1, in a doubleheader on Tuesday morning at Lake Myrtle Park.
Game 1: Farmingdale 1, Thomas 0
The Terriers put the pressure on in the first inning as they forced back-to-back walks and a hit batter to load the bases. Rams starter Thomas Pallatto was replaced with reliever Joe D’Arco who forced a strike out and ground out to end the threat.
Farmingdale plated the lone run of the contest in the top of the third as Ernie Geraci grounded out to second to allow Kenneth Johntry to score. The Terriers threatened again in the fifth as Tyler Gee (Falmouth, Maine) reached on a single and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Connor Rittenhouse (Dover, N.H.). The Rams looked to closer Logan Hicks who came in and silenced the Terriers to finish at 1-0.
D’Arco was given the win in four innings of work, allowing four hits and no runs while Hicks earned his second save with 2.2 innings and three strikeouts.
Thomas starter Cody Cousins (Wells, Maine) went the distance in seven innings, giving up four hits and one run while striking out nine.
