No. 7 Hodgdon rallied from a fourth-quarter deficit to edge No. 15 Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook 39-34 Monday morning in an Eastern Maine Class D girls basketball quarterfinal at Bangor Auditorium.
Mariah Wiley hit the game-winning basket – a jumper from just inside the 3-point arc – with 1 minute, 36 seconds left in the game. Her shot gave the Hawks (13-7) a 35-34 lead they would not relinquish.
Wiley led all scorers with 19 points, all but three of which she scored in the second half. Jennah Steamer added 10 points for Hodgdon, which will face No. 3 Central Aroostook of Dyer Brook in the semifinal round.
Kristen Tarr paced the Warriors (9-11) with 11 points. Southern Aroostook had 35 turnovers, including nine in the fourth quarter.
