WATERVILLE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women’s basketball secured the season sweep over Thomas College with a 59-39 win on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action inside of Larry Mahaney Gymnasium.
How it Happened: The Terriers held a narrow 16-14 lead after the first quarter but the Mariners held the hosts to just five points in the second quarter and four points in the third quarter and sailed to the victory.
Inside the Numbers: Alayne Felix (Mahopac, N.Y.) led the Mariners with a game-high 15 points, two rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.
Megan McLean (Eliot, Maine) added 13 points, two assists and a rebound and Melinda Ogden (Searsport, Maine) tallied 12 points, two rebounds and an assist.
Molly Horton led the Terriers with 12 points, four assists, two rebounds and a steal.
The Mariners shot 38.9 percent from the floor while the Terriers shot 31.1 percent on the evening. Maine Maritime held a 35-32 edge in rebounds.
Up Next: The Mariners improve to 17-6 overall and 11-2 in the conference, while the Terriers drop to 6-17 on the season and 5-8 in the NAC. Maine Maritime wraps up regular season play on Tuesday, February 12 when they host Husson University at 7:30 pm.
