HOLYOKE, Mass.— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women’s soccer team was defeated 2-0 in its 2017 season opener by the Cougars of Holyoke Community College in a non-conference match on Wednesday,.
The home team found the back of the net at the two-minute mark and again early out of the halftime whistle as a result of SMCC defensive miscues in the middle of the field. The SeaWolves were able to maintain possession throughout and proved dangerous in the attacking third, but were held scoreless hitting the post four times in the 90 minutes of action. It was a true team effort as all contributed from the bench.
SMCC begins its fall campaign 0-1 overall; Holyoke stands 1-1 early into its season.
