WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College men’s basketball team cruised to a 91-67 victory over North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opponent Green Mountain College on Saturday afternoon at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium.

The Terriers continue their winning streak at five games at 13-10 (10-6 NAC) while the Eagles fall to 7-15 (5-12 NAC).

Before the game, seniors John Morgan (Sanford, Maine), Carlos Gonzalez (Kennebunk, Maine), and PJ Profenno (Windham, Maine) were honored and recognized for their contributions to the Thomas men’s basketball program.

Thomas opened the game with an early lead as the Eagles looked to keep pace with the Terriers who shot 50 percent (16-of-32) from the floor throughout the half. Sophomore Matt Allen (Barre, Vermont) led with 14 points after hitting four shots from behind the arch while Morgan scored seven of his first 11 points in the first five minutes of play. Duane Goodman Jr. and De Shaun Carr combined for 14 points for Green Mountain as they trailed Thomas 41-27 at the break.

Throughout the second half, the Eagles offense picked up as they shot a strong 12-for-24 from the field including 5-of-9 from three. Turnovers were costly as the Terriers forced ten in the half for a game total of 17. Morgan continued the hot hand in the second with another 14 points while freshman Demetris Webster (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) went 4-for-4 with eight points off the bench. Goodman added 11 for the Eagles including a pair from behind the three-point line.

Morgan led all scorers with 25 points, four rebounds, and four assists while Allen ended with 18 points and four steals. Zach Mackinnon (Kennebunk, Maine) also reached double figures with 11 points and four assists. Profenno contributed with a late bucket in the final minute to record his first collegiate points in his debut.

Goodman netted a team-high 18 points along with four rebounds in the effort for the Eagles. Carr chipped in with 12 points while Hess added four points and ten rebounds.

The Terriers will travel to Maine Maritime Academy on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
