At Red Barry Gymnasium in Bangor, Edward Little of Auburn rallied from a seven-point deficit at the end of the third quarter to edge the Rams and give head coach Mike Adams his 250th career victory.
Ibn Khalid made two free throws to give the Red Eddies a 62-61 lead with 16 seconds remaining and Wol Maiwen added two insurance free throws with 3,1 seconds left after grabbing an offensive rebound after a missed free throw.
A final 3-point shot by Bangor fell short.
The win was the fifth straight for EL, which concludes its regular season with a 14-4 record good for the No. 2 seed in Class AA North,
Bangor (9-9) will finish fifth in Class AA North and faces a road game in next week’s Class AA quarterfinals, likely at Windham.
Maiwen led Edward Little with 21 points while Darby Shea scored 20 and Khalid finished with 12.
Matt Fleming scored a game-high 25 points for Bangor, including 21 in the first half. The junior forward now needs just eight points to reach 1,000 for his career.
Westrich added 14 points for the Rams while Noah Missbrenner scored 12 points and Damien Vance had 10.
