Bangor Girls Basketball 64 at Cony 46

Updated:

AUGUSTA, Maine — Mary Butler topped four Bangor players in double-figure scoring as the Rams downed Cony 64-46 Friday night in an Eastern Maine Class A girls basketball contest at Viles Auditorium.
Butler finished with 17 points, Cordelia Stewart and Denae Johnson posted 13 each and Sarah Bragg added 12 for Bangor, which halted a two-game and now sits 5-2 for the season.
Josie Lee scored a game-high 20 points for the hosts, with Emily Quirion and Alyssah Dennett getting nine points apiece.
Stewart, a 6-foot-2 sophomore center, was hot early for Bangor. She scored 11 of her points in the first five minutes of the game as Bangor jumped out to a 19-6 at the end of the first quarter.
Bragg hit a 3-pointer to kick off the second quarter and put defending Eastern Maine champion Cony in a 16-point hole.
Cony (4-4) tried to get back into the game with Lee drives to the basket and 3-point shots, but each time the hosts closed the gap, Bangor put on another spurt and jumped well ahead again.
