Kennebunk, Maine – June 21, 2013. VentiCordi Chamber Music presents its fifth season of concerts this summer, from July 17 – August 15. In addition to their three performances at the historic South Congregational Church in Kennebunkport on July 18, August 1 and 15, they will perform for the first time at Laudholm Farm on July 17, and the Springvale/Sanford Historical Society on August 2.

From the beginning, audiences have learned to expect the unexpected at a VentiCordi concert, with excellent and enjoyable results. As the Classical Voice of New England wrote of a VentiCordi performance, ‘When music is played with enlightened soul, it speaks directly to the listener, as this did, whether or not it has been experienced previously.’ A VentiCordi concert delights because it effortlessly blends familiar masterworks with lesser known jewels. In recognition of their extraordinary quality they have been selected by the Maine Arts Commission to present at the upcoming Maine International Conference on Art and Culture. From Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms to Malipiero, Riley and Bliss, there are joyous discoveries for the listener to make this summer.

Kathleen McNerney, oboist, and Dean Stein, violinist are the founders and Artistic Directors of VentiCordi. They take great care in crafting this unique concert series, dedicated to chamber music for winds and strings. Each summer they invite the best chamber musicians to join them. The Portland Press Herald praised their ‘…fascinating selection of works from baroque to contemporary, well performed by the founders and noted guest artists.’ Some of the ‘noted guest artists’ live right here in Maine, as Ms. McNerney and Mr. Stein do, and others are from around the country, many with international careers. These will include pianists Pamela Mia Paul and Bridget Convey, violists Noriko Herndon and Kimberly Lehmann, cellists Ashima Scripp and Jing Li, flautist Erin Lesser, clarinetist Anthony Brackett and bassoonist Wren Saunders.

General admission is $20, Seniors $15; 18 and under, $5. To find out more about VentiCordi’s exciting summer concerts, including concert times and locations, ticket information and more, please visit www.VentiCordi.com, email: VentiCordi@gmail.com or call (207) 286-6688.
